GREENS SUPPORT CAMPAIGN TO SAVE FERENEZE BRAES

East Renfrewshire Greens supported the campaign to save the Fereneze Braes during last year’s council elections, highlighting the risk to our shared environment posed by the proposed development.dabraes

After attending the #SaveFereneze protest on Saturday 28th April, co-convener David Allison said:

The demonstration against the proposed development on the Fereneze Braes showed once again that people in Barrhead know the value of this irreplaceable green space and are ready to fight for it.

Local residents have a range of serious objections, from the loss of wildlife to the increased congestion. With housing projects proposed and underway on brownfield sites elsewhere in Barrhead, I hope the council make the right decision on Thursday and reject plans to build on the Fereneze Braes.

I would also recommend that anyone who wants to see more power in the hands of communities asks their MSPs to take the opportunity to rebalance our planning system provided by the Planning (Scotland) Bill which is currently going through the Scottish Parliament.
