As of today there’s only one month left to go Green for the local council elections!
If you want a council that places #PowerInYourHands then put a #1 beside your Scottish Green candidates on Thursday 4th of May 2017.
Live in Ward 1 – Barrhead, Liboside & Uplawmoor? Vote David Allison #1 for a councillor who will protect vital services and work with you to build a future for the community that’s worthy of the people who live in it.
Live in Ward 4: Clarkston, Netherlee & Williamwood (& Busby & Stamperland!)? Vote Laura Stevens #1 for a transparent, accountable council that will seek to rebuild the trust with the communities it represents.
If you’re as excited about our campaign as we are, there are many ways to get involved in these target wards In the weeks running up to the polling day.
These are a great way to introduce our candidates to the local community. It’s also an opportunity to place power back into their hands and giving a voice to people’s hopes and concerns about the area. Below are a list of dates of the street stalls happening in your area this month:
Do you have an hour or two to spare? Our team of newsletter deliverers are always looking for more volunteers. The routes are pre-planned and you can choose how many you’d like to deliver.
If you’d rather be part of a group then keep an eye on our Facebook page for details of social newsletter deliveries. The next one is in Clarkston on Thursday 6th April – TONIGHT! – at 19.30. Meet at Moray Drive beside the entrance to Clarkston Train Station.
If you’re up for talking to people on the doorstep, we’re also looking to hold regular canvassing sessions this month. Some of these will be built around street stalls and social leafleting sessions, but there will be dedicated canvassing trips too for those who want to build on those conversations we’ve had with people at street stalls and make the case for what Green councillors could do in East Renfrewshire.
David will be out canvassing in Barrhead tomorrow. If you’d like to help out, you can meet him in front of the Foundary at 6pm. Again, keep an eye on our Facebook and twitter profiles for further dates.
Don’t have time to commit to street stalls or delivering newletters? Having a window poster on display is a quick and easy way to spread the message that Greens are standing as candidates in the local area. Get in touch and let us know how many you would like (plus you’d also have a nice souvenir to keep afterwards!).
Laura and David are very grateful for any support that the branch can give them over the next month. Help us make history and make sure they are elected as East Renfrewshire Council’s first Green councillors on Thursday 4th May!
